AddictionStopper was built around a simple promise: the most sensitive information about your recovery stays on your phone. This policy explains exactly what we do, and what we don't, with your data.
What we collect
Nothing. AddictionStopper does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on remote servers. There is no sign-up flow, no email, no phone number, no account, no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no telemetry.
What's stored on your device
When you use the app, the following records are saved locally on your iPhone or iPad, in the app's private storage protected by iOS data protection. If you use the Apple Watch app or the widgets, a short summary (quit date, streak, savings, level and your first reason) is passed by iOS directly to your own paired Apple Watch and to the widgets on your device:
- Your profile (name, what you are stopping, quit date, optional daily cost, time and units, your reasons and a letter to your future self)
- Daily check-ins (mood, cravings, sleep, triggers, gratitude and notes)
- Craving SOS sessions (craving before and after, the tool used) and any slips you choose to log
- Your if-then plans and the people you add to call (name and phone number)
- XP, levels and badges earned
- App preferences (appearance, reminder time)
Notifications
If you enable the optional daily reminder, AddictionStopper schedules a local notification on your device. The notification is generated and delivered locally by iOS. No push servers are involved and no data leaves your phone.
Crisis links
When you tap a helpline number or a study link, your phone opens the corresponding app (Phone, Messages or Safari) and connects you directly to that service or to the study's page. AddictionStopper does not see or record those calls, messages or visits.
Children
AddictionStopper is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Your control
At any time you can export your data as a file or delete every record from Settings → Erase all data. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data with it. There is no remote copy of your information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will publish the updated version on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will also be surfaced in the app.
